Mr. Charles Michael “Chuck” Freed age 80 of Keystone Heights passed away in Fleming Island on Saturday, June 19, 2021. Chuck was born in Wilke-Barre, Pennsylvania on May 14, 1941 to the late Donald and Mildred “Dockeray” Freed. After graduating high school Mr. Freed became a police officer. Later, Chuck became a Safety Engineer for the Kennedy Space Center where he went on to work for many years. Chuck was always willing to lend a helping hand and was a faithful member of St. Williams Catholic Church. Whether his neighbors needed a cup of coffee, or the church lawn needed to be mowed, Chuck was your guy. During his free time, he enjoyed making stain glass and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diane Hungarter. Survivors include his wife, Foy Ann “Godbold” Freed; children, Madonna Ewing, Charles (Patrice) Ewing, Sherri (James-deceased) Greaves, and Michael Freed; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Williams Catholic Church in Keystone Heights. Services will be officiated by Father Andrzej Mitera.
