Mr. Kenneth Ronald Hinds Sr. 94 years old of Keystone Heghts

November 27, 1927 - August 9, 2021

Kenneth Ronald Hinds, Sr., of Keystone Heights, Fl., passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2021, surrounded by his beloved family. Kenneth was predeceased in death by his beloved wife Carolyn, and, one of their five children Tammy (Bill Ratliff); they had four other children of the union: Kenneth, Jr. (Brenda), Connie (Tom Stophel), Richard (Margaret), Lawrence (Sharon), and, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Kenneth, Sr., was born on November 27, 1927, the youngest of eight children of Alice Hinds in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The family moved shortly after young Kenneth’s birth to Jacksonville, Florida where young Kenneth grew up and joined the Navy at 17 years old. Kenneth served eight years in the Navy, the first tour aboard the USS WASP. Between tours, young Kenneth met the love of his life, Carolyn Ross, and, after a three months courtship they married. The marriage endured until Carolyn’s death after 62 years of marriage, and, five children. Kenneth always said that Carolyn was the “only girl for him.” After leaving the Navy, Kenneth went to work for JEA, and, retired 20 years later from the position of Power Plant Operator. Everyone who knew Kenneth Hinds, knew him to be a loving husband, and, devoted Father. He will be dearly missed by his family who loved him so much. Kenneth Hinds was the type of man who never passed by someone in need without offering to help them. As any of his children will tell you, we have never heard him say an unkind word about another person. Our Dad had a keen sense of humor and loved to tell jokes and we’re pretty sure he’s doing that sort of thing right now in Heaven! He will be missed but we know he lived a long life and that he will be having a great time with our Mother and sister, Tammy, in Heaven this day! Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 11, 2021.
