July 6, 1928 - February 6, 2021
Pauline “Perri” Ann DeSha Reid, age 92, went home to her heavenly father on February 6, 2021. Born in Alachua General Hospital to the late Perry and Ruth DeSha, she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Dorothy, Mary and Anita. Perri Ann was raised in Waldo. At the end of World War II, she fell in love with a young sailor, Linton C. Reid. She and L.C. were married for 67 years until his death in 2014. As they raised their daughter, Sara Ann, Ann worked in the office of several large freight companies in Georgia and Florida. In 1979 L.C. and Ann built their home in Waldo where her sisters had also returned with their husbands. Together they all enjoyed fishing in Lake Alto, gardening, canning, cooking and laughter. Ann always had beautiful flowers growing in her yard where she also harvested pecans from the trees planted by her father. Ann was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Waldo. For more than a decade she helped prepare the Wednesday night fellowship dinners. On potluck gatherings, the story goes that her chicken pot pie topped with homemade biscuits always went fast. God blessed Sara Ann with a wonderful mother! “Mrs. Reid” loved time spent and cooking for her family. Her great-grandchildren are already carrying on her tradition of making “Christmas Scramble.” Thank you to Sara Ann’s co-care givers, Ann’s niece Gail Cutrer and friend Sharon Eudailey. Ann was dearly loved and will be missed. She is survived by her daughter Sara Hansen; 3 step-grandchildren, Laura (Jose) Saavedra, Linda (Jesse) Herron, Michael (Nnancy) Hansen; 6 great-grandchildren, Justin (Megan), Brittany (Ed), Jessica, Andrew, Chelsie and Elena; and great-great grandsons Wyley and John. Due to Covid-19 there was a private burial on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Laurel Grove Cemetery with Reverend Jim DuBois officiating. The family would like to thank Haven Hospice of Gainesville for their support. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Waldo or to Haven Hospice in Ann’s name: https://beyourhaven.org/donate Arrangements are by JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME OF STARKE 904-964-6200.
